The customer wanted a solution that enabled employees to use existing access cards to also lock/unlock their personal lockers.
At the same time, the customer wanted several lockers to be used by hourly-paid young workers who are not often at work and therefore do not need a personal locker. The choice naturally fell on Blika's lock model LS300, as it can be programmed for the two functions as desired. The total number of lockers and cabinets is 1,043 units, so the quick and time-saving one-time programming was important for the customer.
The locks are installed in the cabinets from the factory, but the programming is done on-site by the customer themselves or with assistance from Blika if desired, making the solution flexible as the customer can change the number of personal and shared lockers as needed.
The electronic lock is an independent unit with Mifare (etc.) wireless technology, which can be locked and unlocked with regular access cards or tags. The idea is that each employee can use their existing access card for the lockers, thus easing the administration of locks, keys, etc. The locks are installed in the cabinets from the factory, but the programming is done on-site. The locks are very flexible, and all programming can be done by the customer, so there are no external maintenance costs. The lock can be programmed in many ways, but the two primary ones are:
If a user forgets or loses their card, an administrator can always access the locker with their master card. The master card can also reset the lock so that it can be used again when the employee gets a new access card. There are several ways to program the locks; it can be done very practically with programming tags or more advanced via programming cards that can be pre-programmed by a computer, after which the card is held up to the lock, and the desired lock setup is transferred at once. The specific solution is chosen when specifying the lock system.
